Bekerja di Amerika

Ada pernyataan yang mengatakan mobil terbaik berasal dari Jerman, dan
gaji terbesar berada di Amerika….hmmm….apakah ini benar? Menurut situs Gazette pada tahun 2018, Amerika berada di posisi kedua di dunia setelah Lexembourg untuk negara dengan penghasilan tertinggi. Tidak heran, berbondong-bondong pencari kerja dari seluruh dunia berusaha datang ke Amerika untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan dan penghasilan idaman. Mereka ingin memperoleh American Dream, yaitu gaji besar, rumah nyaman dengan halaman yang besar, keamanan, pendidikan, dan masih banyak fasilitas lainnya.

Pertanyaannya bagaimanakah cara bekerja secara legal di negara Paman Sam? Di sini kita akan membicarakan bagaimana bekerja secara legal di negara super power tersebut, bukan yang illegal ya… Sebagai pencari kerja yang bukan warga negara Amerika, ada 2 cara yaitu :

1.  Mendapatkan Surat Ijin Kerja (EAD – Employment Autorization Document).
Surat Ijin Kerja atau istilahnya EAD-Employment Authorization Document adalah surat yang mengijinkan pemiliknya untuk bekerja di Amerika dalam periode tertentu. Untuk mendapatkan surat ijin kerja atau EAD ini, seseorang harus mengisi Form I-765 dan mengajukannya ke USCIS. Lama proses pengajuan EAD bergantung dengan di mana dan kapan seseorang mengajukannya.

Durasi EAD bergantung pada visa kerja yang seseorang miliki. Pada saat seseorang memperbarui visa kerja, orang tersebut juga perlu memperbarui EADnya. Cara memperbarui adalah dengan mengisi kembali Form I-765 dan membayar sejumlah biaya.

EAD juga didapat saat seseorang mengajukan Green Card. Pada saat saya mengajukan Green Card, saya memperoleh EAD. Mengapa? Karena proses Green Card sangat lama, bisa hingga 6 bulan, sehingga mereka menerbitkan EAD untuk saya selama saya menunggu proses Green Card selesai. Dalam proses menunggu itu, saya bisa melamar pekerjaan dan bekerja di Amerika.

2. Mendapatkan Green Card atau US Permenent Resident.
Orang yang telah mendapatkan Green Card atau US Permanent Resident otomatis dapat bekerja secara legal di Amerika, tanpa ada batas waktu atau dibatasi dengan pekerjaan tertentu, selama dia memperpanjang Green Cardnya. Orang-orang ini mempunyai kewajiban dan hak yang sama dengan warga negara Amerika, perbedaannya mereka tidak bisa memberikan hak suara untuk pemilihan presiden, dsb.

Orang-orang ini juga mempunyai peluang yang lebih luas untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan yang beragam, mulai dari yang bergaji tinggi hingga yang rendah. Informasi mengenai Green Card, dapat dilihat pada artikel lainnya.

Although the Diversity Visa participation was free, the law and regulations require to every diversity visa winner to pay a visa processing fee of $879. The Diversity Visa(Green Card) is guaranteed upon receiving the payment.
The per person fee for each Diversity Visa is $879, payable in U.S. dollars or equivalent of your local currency. This $879 fee is the only fee a winner needs to pay throughout the entire relocation process.
Accompanying family members(wife/husband, fiancee, brothers, sisters, childrens, cousins) may be included in the program and their visas will be provided at the same time with yours so you can travel/move together in the same time. However the fees must be paid per person and each member(e.g wife, brother, parents, childrens, cousin) must pay $879. There is no discount for childrens.

Please note that you are allowed to take with you as many family members you want. However for each person you must pay an additional amount of U.S $879
For example if you decide to move in the United States with your wife and a kid the total fee is US$879(your fee) + US$879(your wife) + US$879(your kid) = US$2637.

Visa Payment processing instructions
The fees must be paid using Western Union money transfer and will be processed by the U.S. embassy in the United Kingdom.

After you find a Western Union agency you need to go with cash money, an identity card(e.g passport or national identity card) and send the payment to the U.S. embassy agent address in United Kingdom:

The payment must be sent to the above U.S. embassy agent address in United Kingdom because the U.S. Department of State decided this based on the diplomatic relations with your country.
You must declare it a personal transfer (you will tell to the agent from Western Union that you are sending money to a relative or friend of yours), otherwise you will not be able to send the money.

After you send the payment follow the next steps

Do not fall into this scam. I tell you why this scam.
1. the email is coming with the extension .com (means commercial). Everything that related with the US government mostly comes with the extension .gov
2. It is impossible to use WesternUnion as money transfer tool especially with personal name. The government usually ask you to send the money direct to their account.
3. It does not related between US government for green card and their embassy in UK. The guy who will scam you, he lives in UK, with the name that clearly stated in the email. Once you transfer the money, you will lose it. Especially you give all the information to this guy about the sender name, sender address. This is the information that this guy needs to get the money in UK.
4. US government will not ask you to lie to Western Union to mention that you are his relatives to transfer the money through Western Union.
